agents of s.h.i.e.l.d

spoilers below !! tread carefully..

what is agents of s.h.i.e.l.d?

agents of s.h.i.e.l.d is an american tv show created for ABC, based on the marvel comics based on the organisation s.h.i.e.l.d (strategic homeland intervention, enforcements, and logistics division (pay no mind to how stupid they had to make this acronym for the purpose of having a good name)). the series fits within the continuity of the MCU, and sometimes has references events or people related to the MCU (such as the battle of new york or nick fury), but almost all the events are unrelated to the MCU. it is actually highly strange that all the insane events of this tv show have no effect on any of the marvel lore. the show primarily follows phil coulson, who leads a team of agents including melinda may, grant ward, daisy johnson, leopold fitz, jemma simmons, lance hunter, bobbi morse, alphonzo mackenzie, elena rodriguez, etc. together the team must deal with various enemies and strange artefacts such as hydra, life model decoys, inhumans, aliens, time travel, etc all amidst a collapsing s.h.i.e.l.d.

me and agents of s.h.i.e.ld

i was first introduced to the show when i walked into my sibling watching it during around 2021.. maybe?? they were halfway through the show, and i believe it was their second watch, and i joined kinda joined in, but neither of us was making a conscious effort for me to watch the show, i just happened to whenever i was in their room. a couple years later we would rewatch the entire show together, and it quickly became my favourite tv show of all time. all of the characters are perfectly written, i'm pretty sure i could count the amount of annoying characters on one hand, highly impressive for a 7 season, 25 episode, 40 minute show such as AOS. all of the dialogue and relationships are so good, the humour is good but not over the top, and the dialogue flows well while still retaining distinct characters. all of the plot points are well written, each introduced at an appropriate point in the story, with subsequent plots increasing in importance/insanity but with lower stakes points between that allow for breathing room between the big bads. i must question though, as s.h.i.e.l.d is hated by everyone everywhere and is on the brink of collapse, where the hell are they getting money to fund their crazy adventures from???? anyways go watch agents of s.h.i.e.l.d.

my favourite characters:

phillip j. coulson

coulson is probably top 3 characters for me. it's really funny to me that he dies so many times but they just keep bringing him back. battle of new york? project t.a.h.i.t.i that mf cause fury finds him too valuable. ghost rider burns the alien blood keeping him alive? his alien doppelganger is introduced AND the team brings him back as an LMD. no resources to bring him back as an LMD? put em in a box tv..?

coulson and daisy

i just enjoy coulson and daisy's father-daughter dynamic. especially since the whole team is a found family dynamic, and many characters have broken families to different degrees (may and her parents, mack and his brother), these 2 just fit the dynamic so perfectly. that one scene of them hugging when coulson first dies.

daisy johnson

oh my gosh i love daisy so much she is my girl. i really enjoyed her whole journey through discovering who her parents were, believing that she could leave s.h.i.e.l.d behind and stay with her mum at afterlife, only for the whole illusion to unravel, and especially the reveal that her mother was the worse person despite appearances. the scene of her dad killing jiaying to not burden daisy is so beautiful. her getting powers and grappling with newfound strength that may destroy the whole earth was a great theme throughout her story. also for the record i think her best love interest was agent sousa, everyone else was so annoying.

robbie reyes/ghost rider

i don't have a particular reason for liking ghost rider, i think i just find him really cool. the backstory of nearly dying but then making a deal with the devil to basically become a vigilante is so crazy i love it. it's really unfortunate that his character only stays for about a season from my recollection, the fact that he doesn't return AT ALL after his arc sucks he is pawsomesauce. his portrayal in s.h.i.e.l.d makes me tempted to collect the robbie reyes version of ghost rider comics, but i am poor and they're hard to find.

enoch

oh enoch my tragic fav. pls ignore the really bag image i had to use for this. i'm pretty sure i love him so much cause he's very autistic coded, comes with the territory of being a robot character. i think his death in 7x09 was the saddest episode in television history, the whole conversation between him and daisy and coulson about how being away from the team was the first time he felt lonely is so ughhh. and also the fact that he couldn't run fast enough to get on the plane, resulting in him being stuck in the 1900's is equally comedic and tragic. ALSO no one ever talks about how evil fitz was to enoch by taking advantage of the fact that enoch thought they were best friends fuck that guy.

bobbi morse and lance hunter

bobbi is really cool and hot, hunter is funny but he's just kinda there. i think his breaking fitz out of prison scheme was pretty fun. but the reason i'm adding these 2 to my favs is cause their arc together is so good. much of their casual interactions are comedic, but theres a couple big arcs for them that are super good. the first being bobbi getting kidnapped by ward and taking the bullet for hunter, the needles under nails scene still sends a shiver down my spine tbh oh my god. but my favourite part of their story is the flashback to them "picking mushrooms" in russia (i think). the send off that coulson has to give within the minute is so sad, and the ending of the arc comes so unexpectly. that final scene of everyone scattered around the bar, giving the pair their final send off but unable to say a word? ohhh dear god its so good.
